Millie Doud
I have always found joy in playing with visual possibilities unlimited by form of art or media.  I enjoy working
with a variety of media including glass, fiber, clay, pencil and paints.  I enjoy manipulating the art elements,
and, as often happens in problem solving through a two or three dimensional visual project, the original
idea might change and grow differently in content or style as it develops during the process.
That is all part of the wonder of creativity.
Millie (a native of Pennsylvania) and husband Bob retired to the Grand Strand in December of 1992
having lived most of their professional years on the Maryland side of the Washington DC area.

Millie holds a Masters Degree in education with specialties in art and English.  She worded for 25 years in
a Maryland school system that allowed her many responsibilities and opportunities for diversity in both
teaching a wide variety of subjects from art to computer science to photography an din implementing
peripheral activities which included writing curriculum.  Among many personal highlights was a year of
teaching in two Japanese high schools south of Yokohama.

Doud currently teaches Art History and Appreciation at Horry-Georgetown Technical College.  She also
teaches art-related subjects for CCU Lifelong Learning.  Locally, she actively exhibits artwork in a variety
of media and styles.  At Brookgreen Gardens she enjoys being a docent in both the sculpture garden and
the wildlife areas.

Retirement has offered a wonderful world of busy days and new visions through the arts.
