Jeremiah Jewelry was born from the promise of hope found in Jeremiah 29: 11-13. This story of hope
began when Carolyn and Ben Pittman formed HIS Water HIS Way (hwhw.org) in the fall of 2003 to deal with
clean water challenges which plague millions of people in Africa and other countries of the world.
Their commitment to bring clean water to Rwanda and Kenya has been and is today a continuing success
story. While in Africa, Ben was led to investigate several other social issues in addition to clean water. He
soon discovered that most women needed desparately to find sources of income to help their families
survive the incredible poverty.
As Ben continued to make contacts in Kenya and other areas of Africa, the idea of manufacturing gemstone
jewelry began to materialize. Carolyn joined Ben in Africa in the Spring of 2006 for the first time, and trained
a wonderful Christian couple, Stephen and Joyce Kiiru, who are now partners in the project.
With ample supplies of native materials, the women could handcraft jewelry with guidance on America
tastes. After design work by Carolyn and others, Jeremiah Jewelry is able to produce a distinctive line of
quality Christian jewelry, tied to scriptural and biblical themes.
As the company grows, the Kiiru's will be able to teach and train in Kenya and other African countries,
expanding the opportunity to provide jobs and much needed hope for the women in need.
